Film Review 80th Anniversary Announcement
A CELEBRATION OF LEGACY
80 years ago, on 8 December 1944, the very first Film Review annual was released. Printed in four colours on art paper, the initial volume fulfilled a long-held dream for founder F. Maurice Speed. As the world's longest-running film annual, Film Review went on to publish 70 volumes between 1944 and 2015 before the yearly look at cinema moved to an entirely digital format, Film Review Daily.
As our 80th anniversary dawns, Film Review is proud to announce a brand new book — Film Review Legends — which compiles over 80 original articles from our archives into a single volume. Written by legends in front of and behind the camera, this marks the first time these pieces have been reprinted and compiled since their original printing — with some articles dating as far back as 1945. Accompanying these historic entries are brand new remembrances from the family and friends of the legends themselves. Watch our announcement video below to learn more about this special collection and our 80th anniversary year.
Film Review Legends arrives in 2025. Join our occasional newsletter for updates.
